We will be holding a food drive with the Sheridan Story during our Monthly Meeting on July 19th. Please see the details below, and make sure to bring donations with you to the meeting if you can:
The Sheridan Story seeks to end child hunger through community and school partnerships. With the help of our community partners, we provide meals on Friday afternoons to local kids who are living in food insecurity, meaning they are not always sure where their next meal is coming from. We began just five years ago in one school in NE Minneapolis and have grown to over 180 schools in the Twin Cities area since then. There are over 200,000 kids in Minnesota who don’t have enough to eat. The Sheridan story developed a logistical model to provide food for those kids and help close the weekend food gap, because we believe that this is not a supply problem but a distribution problem.
While we will accept all food, we are always in need of the following items (It is best if all food items are under 16oz):
- Canned Tuna or Chunk Chicken (6oz or less)
- Canned Vegetables
- Canned Fruit
- Canned Soup, Stew or Chili
- White Rice, Pasta or Oatmeal
