Scholarship Program

Scholarship Application

The Northstar Chapter of the American Payroll sponsors an annual scholarship program. The chapter reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of the scholarship program and to make changes, at any time, including termination of the program. Previously approved scholarships will not be affected by subsequent changes to the program.

The Chapter believes that education is essential to the health of the society, the family, and the individual. The Northstar Chapter scholarship program is an “investment in Tomorrow”. The program is designed to assist and encourage Northstar Chapter members and their dependent children in their pursuit of higher education, thereby demonstrating the chapter’s commitment to their growth and development and providing greater awareness of the educational purpose of the American Payroll Association.

In support of the Scholarship Program, The Northstar Chapter Board has designed a portion of its revenues to fund scholarship awards annually. The amount designated each year will vary based on financial results of the conference, and all the designated funds may not be awarded every year.

  • Applicants must be Northstar Chapter members or dependents children (as defined by IRS regulations) of chapter members as of October 1st of the prior year.
  • Member applicants must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a course of study at an accredited two or four-year College, university, or vocational/technical school.
  • Dependents applicants must be presently enrolled or currently high school seniors planning to enroll in an accredited two or four-year College, university, or vocational/technical school after high school graduation.
  • Previous Northstar Chapter scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Applicants must submit their applications to the Northstar Chapter via U.S Mail, postmarked no later than May 31st in the year in which they are applying. The application along with the supporting documents required should be sent to:

Northstar Chapter
Scholarship Committee
P.O. Box 16311
St. Louis Park, Minnesota 55416

All applicants will be notified by end of June whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship. Scholarships will be presented at the July meeting.

Recipients have no obligation to the Northstar Chapter except to submit a current transcript, personal essay, and teacher or counselor recommendation(s) along with their application. Except as described in this brochure, no obligation is assumed by the Northstar Chapter.

Awards Selection Criteria
